In this third day of job shadowing. we've made a presentation of our cities and schools in the Roveleto school library, we've attended an Italian class at the secondary school library, we've attended an English lesson and we have talked to students, answering their questions and, finally, we have been at the science lab, where there was a "vertical lesson" between Primary and Secondary.
Above, you can see some pictures of the Roveleto school library.
On Wednesday, we have finally made our presentations to some groups of students at Roveleto school library.
Then, a student has explained us how this achool library is organized. We found interesting the national program called “Io leggo perchè”: Every november, students’ families can optionally buy a book for the school and, for each book bought, the editorial house gives another book for the school library. In the school library there is a poster with the name of those who have made these donations to the school.
Later, some of the students have shared with us the booktrailers that they have created during Italian language lessons. We have also been able to learn how this Italian lessons are organized: once a week every class group goes to the library to read books and do some related activities, as the creation of booktrailers. Besides, a student has explained to me that they can also borrow books and take them home for some time. Thay are the teachers themselves who register that a book has been lended.
Later, we have attended a 2nd grade secondary Ensglish lesson (students were 12-13 years old) with the teacher Manuela Borsani. But, before starting the lesson, students have asked us a lot of questions about our educational system: which is our timetable, which subjects we have... It was very interesting!
Then, at the end of the morning, and after a 10 minutes break, we have gone to the lab to attend a vertical science class. “Vertical” means that it’s a teacher from Secondary school who gives the lesson to students of the last year of the Primary school (10-11 years old), so they can get to know each other. This lesson was included in a science project called “From macro to micro”: they studied the digestive human system starting by looking at the human organs at real size and finishing by observing them in the microscope.
In the afternoon, our day has been completed with a visit to Piacenza, including an "aperitivo"!
