at IC Cadeo e Pontenure

Today we have visited the spaces located at Pontenure and we haved had a chat with Leonardo, the headmaster of this “istituto comprensivo”. He has shown us the main spaces of this section of his school, which also consists of a prescholar school, a primary school and a secondary school. Then we have attended a preschool lesson in the school library, with five year old pupils. 

In fact, there is a different library for each educational level, and in the preschool library they have illustrated books, narrative books and some non-fiction books, as well as cushions to sit in a comfortable and relaxed way.

The teacher has read aloud a short story about a country where you have to buy words in order to speak, so if you have no money, you have no words. The story was about the importance of feelings and non-verbal communication apart from words themselves.

Finally, we have attended a class in the first year of medium secondary school (11-12 year old students) in a workshop or “atelier”; in this case it was a robotics lesson in which students programmed geometric figures with the Scratch application and then designed them using a robot called Thymio.

Later, of course, we haved taken the opprtunity of doing some tourism and visiting the surroundings. So we have been to Parma, we have eaten pasta, we have walked around the monumental complex called "Pillota" (unfortunately, the library was closed), we have entered a bookshop where I've found books from Spanish and Catalan authors and in the end we have walked thourough Maria Luigia park.
