Task 1 is part of a multidisciplinary term project called 'How are we connected to the stars?' which is to be carried out by CSE-1 students. The didactic proposal is related to the study and research of our galaxy and Universe. CSE-1 students work in cooperative groups to create a workshop for primary students, which will take place outdoors in what we call the 'COSMIC FAIR'. Secondary students will explain and guide primary students to solve the games created for them. Through teaching and gaming, both primary and secondary students will be able to consolidate the previously acquired knowledge by playing and spending a good time together, using English as a communicative language. To prepare such activities, CSE-1 students will find all the tasks and materials needed on their Google Classroom platform and on the Google Site created for the project. They will also use a variety of ICT tools to develop the cooperative project.
The topic of this task 2 is taken from the interest and motivation of 4th grade students. At the beginning of the academic year, students were asked about what type of science project they would like to work on, and the general topic was endangered animals. With the following activities, students not only will learn about wild or threatened animals but also to use practical English language by interacting with their classmates while playing a game in class, collaborating in groups to get information or team working and investigating about the chosen animal. The general aims of the following project are to give students the proper frame to work collaboratively, foster interaction in English, give students strategies and tools to be able to make predictions and to create an expository text and use self-evaluation and peer evaluation as tools to improve self-reflection about their own learning process.
