Apart from the Google Site of the project, we also used the Google Classroom platform to set challenges and as a tool for students to deliver their works.
The very first task on the Classroom was to make up the cooperative groups; choose a group name, distribute the roles and set the 5 ground rules for the teamwork. We provide them some language support to discuss and some examples of ground rules to think about. You can see below an example of the document the students used to reflect on the role responsibilities and to take charge of their own group tasks:
Their next task was to create a poster for the group with their own logo, a slogan or quote and their team 5 ground rules to make students feel the group belonging.
With some videos and questions, the CSE-1 students investigated about some concepts of the universe such as; the trajectory and stages of the Apollo 11, phases of our Moon, materials of the planets, natural and artificial components of the solar system, types of planets and its moons, stars and constellations, etc.
As a warming-up activity, we offered a list of KEYWORDS related to the videos, to share with the cooperative group
We used the GROUP OF EXPERTS cooperative technique to carry out the introductory activity.
As a result of it, they created these MIND MAPS
