Year 10 - Preperation
Key activities: Work placements and mock interviews, college taster days
Lessons delivered during crew include preparing to find and carry out work placements; CVs, applications and interview technique in preparation for mock interviews; an introduction to post-16 options. These activities are supplemented with after-school support sessions in Extended Study with device access. Invitation to D6 with Career drops ins available.
By the end of Year 10, all learners will have had the opportunity to:
Be registered and have developed a personalised start profile
Develop a deeper understanding of Post -16 progression, including entry criteria and the different routes to University, Apprenticeships and college.
Gain an awareness of the links between transferable skills and XP HOWLs and Character Traits
Develop their self-awareness and career management skills, including writing a CV
Experience at least one week on placement within the workplace
Complete an assessment day provided by an external employer
Be interviewed by someone from the world of work
Experience taster sessions at post-16 providers - New College Doncaster and Doncaster College. Bespoke event for individual students
Attend one-to-one careers meetings by request. All SEND students to attend one to one careers guidance and support.
Year 10 & 11 Post 16 Evening
C26 & C27 parents and students are invited to an evening on an annual basis. It is an expectation that all year 11 students will attend and a representative from home, for year 10 this is an excellent opportunity to gather information about what Post 16 opportunities are available in the local area.
