Where is WGS located?
Campus is in north central Wyoming, at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains in Sheridan, Wyoming.
How long are residents placed at WGS?
Discharge dates are determined by the Multidisciplinary Team based on academic, behavioral health and individualized program progress.
Transition services are coordinated with local DFS offices.
How often will I receive information regarding a residents progress?
Each resident is assigned a case manager that will maintain consistent communication with her family, probation officer and other stakeholders. Monthly service plan review meetings will be facilitated via phone conference in addition to court ordered Multidisciplinary Team meetings and review hearings. Written service plan updates will be provided to stakeholders quarterly.
We value family participation and encourage all questions to be directed to the residents' case manager.
How may I contact a resident?
Statement of Parental, Attorney contact:
A resident has the right to confidentiality access all written and verbal correspondence to their attorney, Guardian Ad Litem, District Court Judge, Tribal Judge, Agents of Law Enforcement, Advocacy Groups and/or Probation Officer, Parents and Legal Guardians (as allowable during business hours).
A resident has the right to communicate to their family via letters, phone calls, and personal visits. This right can only be suspended if contact with family is deemed as counter therapeutic.
Each resident has a contact list approved by their DFS probation officer that may include: family members, foster family members and/or adult mentors.
Residents are allowed weekly contact via phone calls and video chats with parents or legal guardians. Circumstances may arise that would provide additional weekly phone calls.
Residents may write and receive letters with those on their approved contact list, with all postage being paid by WGS. Residents may receive packages from those on their approved contact list. Please contact the resident's case manager for package guidelines.
May I visit a resident?
ALL visitors must be on the resident's approved contact list.
Visits must be scheduled in advance with the resident's case manager or the dorm supervisor.
Visits are based on the progression of resident's dorm program. Initially visits begin on campus and progress to visitation in the home community. Please contact the case manager for specific dorm program's visitation procedures.
