The Wylie Police Department offers a Lateral Transfer Program for experienced peace officers. Experienced officers may be exempt from the written examination. Lateral applicants may choose to take the four minute row test instead of the 2000 meter row test. Lateral applicants may also be eligible for an abbreviated Field Training Program. If an applicant qualifies for the Lateral Transfer Program, the starting salary will correspond with the applicant's previous years of full-time law enforcement and the Wylie Police Department pay plan.
The Wylie Police Department will accept out of state lateral officers. Attending the Academy is dependent on the state you are originating from. Please reference the TCOLE website at the following link. Please contact recruiter for questions.
