Two of the most prevalent pieces of food culture I saw were Taiwan's notorious night markets and their family style restaurants.
While it was always daunting grabbing a serving from the rotating tables of these kinds of restaurants, the amount of them I ended up going to showed me how integral family connection is in Taiwan.
When looking at any Taiwan travel guide, you'll always get recommended to check out at least one night market. This piece of Taiwanese culture transforms ordinary streets into authentic food stalls, games, stores, and attractions that weren't there before, once night falls. If you only have one night to eat traditional Taiwanese dishes, I would definitely recommend checking one out, dishes like 糖葫蘆 and Stinky Tofu (臭豆腐)are a staple at any Night Market!
