Breakfast/Lunch

Going to the lunchroom is a new experience for kindergartners! The kids will have 30 minutes to eat lunch and that includes clean up, which will go very quickly at the beginning of the year. We eat lunch from 10:40-11:10. Because of the overwhelming lunch choices, please also discuss your child’s lunch choice BEFORE coming to school. There is a fee to purchase a school breakfast, lunch, or only purchase milk from the cafeteria. Don’t forget to set-up or deposit money in your child’s online account to begin the year. Families can manage their child’s account through LunchTime by logging in through the district website and choosing the “Parents” and “LunchTime” in the dropdown menu or go to https://schoolpaymentportal.com/Login.aspx. You will need your child's student number to access the first time. Families can also sign up for auto-reminders when balances reach a certain amount, set up an auto-replenishment of funds, and view child’s menu selections. Deposits are made through the School Payment Portal. Already have an account? Use the Parent Portal/Parent Login with your existing account information to access your child’s account. Some Lunch Tips...

If you are packing your child’s lunch, please send in things that your child can open independently. It might be helpful to practice eating a "school lunch" at home. Sit down with your child for lunch, and set a timer for 15-20 minutes. Be sure your child can independently open and close the lunch box along with everything you have packed inside. Talk about not eating off of the lunch table...ew! Explain to your child that he/she may not finish eating the entire lunch, and that's ok! Once the timer has gone off, talk about how to pack everything back up. What should go in the trash can and what should come back home in the lunch box? Kindergarten lunch is a big adjustment for any kiddo. All of the adults in the cafeteria will be so appreciative if you have prepared your child for this experience!

Water Bottle Tips...

Please try to choose a water bottle that does not spill easily. Please choose one that has a stopper or folds closed rather than one that just has a cover over the spout. Be sure your child has practiced opening and closing the spout along with opening the lid to refill and closing it as well. Label the water bottle with your child's first and last name. These will come home daily. Please only fill bottles with water! If your child would rather drink something else, please only send that for lunch.

Birthday Procedures

We love to recognize students on their birthdays, however, our academic time is precious. We are unable to do birthday parties at school. Your child will receive a crown and other special birthday items, and we will sing “Happy Birthday” to celebrate him/her. As a result of our district’s Wellness Policy, please do not send in or bring in food, treats, flowers, balloons, etc.

If you have invitations for a birthday party, we would prefer for you to contact the families directly using information from the class directory that is shared by your child's kindergarten teacher. If you are sending invitations to the entire class, please contact your child's teacher, and she will be happy to distribute them into the students' take-home folders. Please keep in mind other children’s feelings when bringing them to school.
