***Announcement for Tuesday, September 17***
Today, September 17, is CONSTITUTION Day. On this day schools all around the country are celebrating the most important document in United States History-The Constitution.
This year at Westwood Regional we are acknowledging Constitution Day by sharing the results of a Constitution Quiz that was emailed to all students. Here are the results:
- 95% of the students who took the quiz knew that law enforcement officials need a warrant to enter and search our homes
- Only 27% of respondents were able to identify that the 8th Amendment protects citizens from “cruel and unusual punishment”
- A majority of the respondents were able to identify the various components of the 1st Amendment
- Half of the respondents thought that the President can declare war, however, according to the Constitution only Congress can declare war
Have an amazing Constitution Day!
