The Saxophone is a member of the woodwind family. It is made of metal, and uses a wooden reed to create its sound. The saxophone was created in 1841 by Adolphe Sax to bridge the gap between woodwinds and brass instruments. There are 5 different types of saxophones: soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass saxophone. Saxophones can be heard in concert bands, marching bands, jazz ensembles, and sometimes orchestras. Some famous saxophonists are Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Arno Bornkamp.
