The Cisco Network Academy at WHS consists of 5 classes that are taken over a span of 3 years. These classes are geared toward both students who have basic to advanced knowledge of computing and networking. At the end of each class, students will have the opportunity to apply and test for three different professional certifications that gives each student an edge in starting a career in IT and networking right out of high school.
The academy begins with IT Essentials, which is an introductory course that equips students with the skills and understanding of computers, peripherals, and other equipment in today’s school, home, and workplace. This class is designed to prepare students for the CompTIA A+ certification.
The next three classes dive deep into the world of networking. Students will take three classes 1) Intro to Networking 2) Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials 3) Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation. Through hands-on activities and Network Simulation software students will have the foundational skills to test for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
The last class in the academy is CyberOps Associate. Much of our lives revolve around computers and data, which all rely heavily on the internet and networking. Because of that all companies need to protect the data of their company and customers from attacks. This class will develop the know-how to monitor, detect and respond to cyber security threats. Upon completion of this course and successful examination the student can obtain the Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate Certification.
