Firstly, it is important to note that you do not need to use the Virtual Desktop in order to access your Google Drive or Google Classroom from home. You simply need to click on the Google account icon in the top right hand corner of the Google webpage (google.com) and login using your usual student email and password (@student.wvr.ac.uk). The icon will usually change to your first initial. Then, click on the Google apps icon (see screenshot -->) and scroll down to locate the Google Classroom app. Click, and hey presto! Alternatively, you can go direct to classroom.google.com and sign in.
There are different ways to communicate with your teacher whilst working from home. There are 4 outlined below:
Add a 'Private Comment' on your work to communicate directly to the teacher who has set the assignment
2. Add a 'comment' directly on to your work. Highlight the section of your work that you would like feedback on, click on the (+) and write your comment.
3. Add a 'class comment' directly under your the assignment set by your teacher. All students can post here to support one another.
4. Add a public comment to the classroom 'stream' to ask any questions that you might have, or post any links that your classmates might find useful.
Depending on the assignment, you can turn in a personal doc that your teacher assigned to you, create your own Google Doc, or add files to the assignment.
If you need to edit work you turned in, you can unsubmit the assignment. But any assignment turned in or marked done after the due date is recorded as late.
If your teacher attached a document with your name in the title, it’s your personal copy to review and edit. As you work, your teacher can review your progress before you click Turn in. On completion, choose one of the following ways to 'Turn In':
In the document, click Turn in and confirm.
In Classroom, in the assignment, click Turn In and confirm.
To attach an item:
Under Your work, click Add or create > select Google Drive , Link , or File .
Select the attachment or enter the URL for a link and click Add.
(Note: You can't attach a file you don't own.)
To attach a new doc:
Under Your work, click Add or create > select Docs , Slides , Sheets , or Drawings . A new file attaches to your work and opens.
Click the file and enter your information.
(Note: You can attach or create more than one file.)
If no document is required to be submitted, (for example if the assignment is simply a link to another online platform or quiz) you will simply be instructed to 'mark as done' before the deadline so that your teacher knows that you have completed it.
Your teacher might have provided you with specific guidance on where to find your assignments, but if you are ever unsure, simply click on the 'view your work' icon and you can filter by what is 'still due'.
Alternatively, click on the menu on in the top left hand corner of your classroom and scroll down to the 'To-do' icon. This will show you all of your assignment tasks, from all of your classes that are still to be submitted. For example, it will provide you with a 'to do' list from your main course, and your maths and/or English classes, should you have any outstanding.
