Although not a required element, it is important to recognize West Virginia’s role in the Appalachian landscape. Conservation cannot occur in isolation. We have similar species, similar habitats and we experience many of the same threats. Therefore West Virginia must work in concert with neighboring states to ensure conservation is consistent across the landscape.
