CURRENT AND PRIOR PRACTICES
Since 2000 - organized and facilitated monthly Book of the Month Club selections and corresponding monthly discussion meetings, held during L & L
Utilize a genre centered system of organization system for our Fiction section of the Library
Utilize a school-wide WallyCrate “subscription box’ program
Spring of 2022 -adopted Beanstack, a digital way to create customized reading challenges and for students to log their reading minutes. Since 2023, we offer a 9th and 10th grade reading challenge along with a summer reading minutes and book challenge.
Fall 2022 - implemented a "Daily 5" program in library study hall - includes ACT questions, resource highlights, book trailers, read alouds, puzzles, brainteasers, digital breakouts etc. to enhance multiple student literacy skills
Fall 2023 - Library staff works with team to establish schoolwide ACT vocabulary initiative. All teachers on rotating schedule to teach students ACT frequency vocabulary words in context.
Fall 2023/Fall of 2024 - students started competing in the annual state-wide Battle of the Books competition.
Ongoing - adopt and curate diverse collections of materials and resources
