EMPOWERS STUDENTS AS CREATORS
2018 - Central to the new design of our library was space for makerspace projects to foster inquiry and creativity. Over 4 years of this project, we have organized and implemented monthly projects for students to design and create: Button making, Calligraphy, Soap-making, Pop-up Books, Makey Makey, Blackout Poetry, Weaving, Myintent personalized metal jewelry making, succulent pot painting and planting, 3D printing, laser engraving, Cricut vinyl sticker/decal/iron-on creating, diamond painting, string art, 3D animation video making, electric circuit building, sewing, embroidery and much, much more.
Annual Fall Program - plan, design, and execute a new, unique library program to students during all study halls to highlight digital tools and to promote fun and student fellowship in the library setting - some of our best programs included Harry Potter Wizard Tournament, Star Wars Jedi Training, Amazing Race: Magical Mayhem, life-sized CLUE, and Stephen King mini-golf.
Annual Spring Program - plan, develop, and execute special program centered around the Read Across America initiative to build some element of reading literacy as well as digital literacy into our events. Some of our best have been a full-library- mini golf course, a Minute to Win it Trivia competition, a Murder Mystery, a Breakout Escape game, an Among US game, spring 2023 Hunger Games interactive competition, and spring 2024 Stranger Things Trivial Pursuit.
Fall of 2022 - purchase of a sublimation printer: students will learn to use a special sublimation ink printer and various heat presses to create high quality printed items such as mugs, hats, and t-shirts (Art Club, Girls' basketball, Library Club, Makerspace project)
Spring of 2024 - purchase of multiport device charging station,classroom set of (5) Wacom 1 digital drawing tablets, embroidery sewing machine, Sphero robotic tools, high quality digital camera
