A note from Mrs. Paloti…
To all of our amazing,
Whether you are one of my past students (SO happy to be working with you again) or I have never met you (Hi! It is SO nice to meet you!!), I want you to know that you are not alone. I am hear to help you in anyway that I can. I am thrilled to be at JFK as the Student Assistance Counselor. I feel very fortunate to be able to assist you in learning ways to cope, and offer techniques and strategies to help you get through whatever it is you're dealing with. I believe that learning about self-care in positive, nurturing ways at a young age will really provide you with a much happier, healthier lifestyle and attitude overall.
There is so much support offered today and resources at our fingertips. You just need to seek it out. I know you're always on that internet so put it to good use. This can be your safe place to come to. I will share with you some ideas to practice mindfulness, positive quotes to keep up your vibes, and useful tips on a daily basis- here and on my classroom (link to your left). I am in the building daily, you request to see me by asking your teacher, counselor, signing my door or messaging me on remind. Therefore, you have NO EXCUSES for not seeking assistance if you need it. Please reach out to me. Make it a great, successful year full of self growth and learning!
To the strong, patient, loving parents,
My hope for you is that you give yourself grace and patience. You are doing fabulous. No one prepared us for the teenage years, try to not feel shame for allowing screen time, guilt for unhealthy snacks, or stress about routines and schedules. Do not feel overwhelmed if you are not the perfect teacher or counselor-- you shouldn’t be. We went to school for this and are still far from perfect! Instead, these resources are meant to help students. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is good for all of us at all stages of life. However, I believe that it is now more important than ever that we help our students cope, build strong resiliency skills and provide them with feelings of security and love.
You can contact me at any time at ellen.paloti@wtsdnj.com. I am always here to help! We are all in this together! Sending you love, positivity and kindness today and always.
With a heart full of love,
Mrs. Paloti : )
