It enhances learning and gives it context, use and sparks motivation. It has a home in every subject and in every classroom. This is the intention of our STEM intiative.
What are
Pillar Skills?
In the world of education, the days of memorizing facts and procedures and then repeating them back are gone. Today, learning is about doing and doing is about using the facts and procedures to solve problems and think critically.
The Pillar Skills are a synthesized version of do statements from learning standards across disciplines. They put action into learning and push students into solving problems and critical thinking. They apply to ALL subjects and are emphasized learning goals.
You will see the Pillar Skills emphasized throughout STEM Expo '24.
