*Students in Southern Valley in grade 5, and students in Stamford in grades 4-5 will be grouped with grade 6 for E-Learning expectations.
Once distributed from schools to your home, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students will use the digital devices they often use in their classrooms at school.
6-8* graders will be provided a digital device to communicate, collaborate, and complete classwork. We will be sending a charger and cable home with the devices to make sure they can be used on a daily basis. All of these items will need to be returned when school reopens.
Beginning March 23, visit the tech support section of this website for additional details and support documents.
If you have any technology issues with the digital device from your school, please open a support ticket at your school's tech support page on your school-specific e-learning site. A technology specialist will reach out to you as soon as possible to help.
Children are not expected to be using technology for hours at a time. Similar to when they are at school, students will be completing a variety of assignments both online and offline.
The primary e-Learning resources will be email and Google apps. These tools are already a regular part of your child's school day and students are already familiar with receiving and completing assignments electronically.
In grades 6-8* students will interact with their teacher via Google classroom and assignments will be shared directly with students in this manner. Parents may access their child's Google classroom by using their log-on information.
Students are expected to log in on school days to learn about their assignments. This is an opportunity for students to practice online etiquette and carry out their work with honesty, integrity, responsibility, and positive, respectful language. We encourage students to set daily e-learning routines. Identifying a dedicated space (kitchen table, desk, etc.) for e-Learning can help establish routine.
Teachers may send home additional learning materials to students such as independent reading books, notebooks and texts.
Reasonable expectations will be that children participate daily in the activities and lessons assigned by his/her teacher(s). Teachers will provide additional guidance and details in their communications.
