*Students in Southern Valley in grade 5, and students in Stamford in grades 4-5 will be grouped with grade 6 for E-Learning expectations.
Your family may be provided a digital device from your school for you and your child to use to communicate, collaborate, and complete classwork. We will be sending a charger and cable home with the digital devices to make sure they can be used on a daily basis. All of these items will need to be returned when school reopens. Distribution of digital devices will happen beginning no later than March 23rd.
Beginning March 23, visit the tech support section of this website for additional details and support documents.
If you have any technology issues with the digital device from your school, please open a support ticket at your school's tech support page on your school-specific e-learning site. A technology specialist will reach out to you as soon as possible to help.
Children are not expected to be using technology for hours at a time. Similar to when they are at school, students will be completing a variety of assignments both online and offline.
The primary e-Learning resource for students in grades 3-5* will be electronic communications teachers send to parents. They will send daily emails, or Google Classroom communications, with a list of assignments and activities for the day. Teachers may also send home packets of information and resources with students to use for learning during this time.
Teachers may send home additional learning materials with students such as independent reading books, notebooks, and texts. Some teachers at some schools may reach out to you to explore using digital devices and learning apps with students grades 3-5.*
Reasonable expectations will be that children participate daily in the activities and lessons assigned by his/her teacher(s) through the daily email. Here is an example of a suggested schedule. Teachers will provide additional guidance and details in their daily communications with you.
Digital tools such as IXL, NewsELA, Discovery Science, or other apps and software programs may be used to support your child's learning. These tools can help provide some variety to your child's learning activities.
If you or your child require assistance with any of these tools please visit the tech support section of this webpage.
