Good afternoon! We had a great week at Beaumont! This past week we had an assembly with all the students regarding the new Second Step Program that is being rolled out to all staff and students this year with a focus on empathy, problem solving, emotion management, skills for learning and friendship skills. This month, as a building, we focused on being safe, respectful and responsible. Talk to your students asking them examples of each of these in the school setting. Each week there will be a different focus and theme. There is a "button" above that will direct you to the family engagement page of second step. Being connected with what we are focused on at school and reiterating it at home, builds understanding and value to the skills that they are learning at school. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Safety at school is always our number one priority. This includes carpool in the morning and afternoon. Please DO NOT enter the parking lot through the exit. This is dangerous for our students and families. Please review procedures below and make sure to NEVER let your child out of the car in the far car lane without an adult present to escort them across. Also, please make sure that you move as far up as possible. Stay in your lane. Do not change lanes or cross lanes unless directed by a staff member- this will lead to accidents in the parking lot. Finally, pack a little patience as you move through car pool. There are times when our littlest friends have a hard time getting out of the car and need a little extra assistance. Staff will always try to keep carpool moving and will not close the doors until 8:45 or when the carpool line is complete. If you do arrive after 8:45 and doors 6 and 8 are closed, students need to enter through the main office and be signed in by an adult. Thank you for all the waves and smiles in the morning! It truly is one of my favorite things to do during the day.
This was the last week for our music teacher, Jessica Blitchok. We wish her luck in her future plans. We also welcome Misty Sharp as our new music teacher, who starts on Wednesday.
This week we have a Bus Safety Presentation for all students on Monday. Review the bus safety procedures with your students.
On Friday, it is PICTURE DAY!!! It is so fun to see our students coming in dressed up and excited for the day!
Have a wonderful week!
-Mrs. Walsh
