Good afternoon!
What a fun and busy week! The book fair was a great success and it was nice to see all of the parents at the evening events and lunch with your child. Thank you Bonnie Pawolske and all of the staff and parent volunteers that made this week-long event successful. Conferences were well attended. If you are still in need of a conference with your teacher, please reach out and try to schedule this week. We are in our second week of NWEA and we are finishing up the WIDA testing. It is pretty awesome to see how much are kids are growing. Look for the March is Reading Month calendar further down the newsletter. Finally, please remind your students that cellular devices (including apple watches, Fitbits, etc.) are not allowed to be used in the classroom. These items need to stay in their lockers and powered off. We have state testing coming up fast and if students are caught wearing or using these devices, it is considered cheating and their test could be invalidated- or even the whole class's test could be invalidated and would need to be reported to the state. Please have this converstaion this weekend, as we will be confiscating these items for parent pick up starting on Monday. Students have been warned by their teachers mulitple times.
5th Grade Basketball Games:
Tuesday, March 7th: at Mott vs. Grayson
The Dads of Great Students WATCH D.O.G.S. program is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement, organizations designed and developed by educators, experts and parent & guardian volunteers and it is coming BACK TO BEAUMONT! Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures serve at Beaumont for a day (or more!) and work with students across the building. Lisa Engel is the teacher that will be the program director. This Kickoff Event will be Wednesday, March 15th at 8 AM in the library. Donuts, coffee and juice will be provided for our guests and their student(s). RSVP required for this event- click here.
It is that time of year! Kindergarten Round Up will be held at Beaumont on Thursday, March 9th from 6-7:30 PM. Be sure to read through our Kindergarten Booklet, found on our district enrollment page, created to give our families important, need-to-know information as each of you navigate through this exciting year. Welcome Class of 2036!
Enrollment must be done at Central Enrollment located in the Crary Administration Building on 501 N. Cass Lake Rd. Make sure to bring the following items to enroll:
Birth Certificate

Does your child have a summer birthday? Junior Kindergarten may be an option for you. September 1st is the birthday cutoff for Kindergarten but you can apply for Junior Kindergarten if your child has a birthday between Sept. 1st and December 1st. Find out more information on our enrollment page.
Children's Author, Dennis Matthews, will be visiting Beaumont on March 13th at 6 PM for an amazing evening of music, story telling and fun activities for the whole family. Mark your calendars. We have a small inventory of books that are for sale through the front office for $15 each. Mr. Matthews will be signing his books the evening of the event. Books will not be sold the evening of the event. Pre-sales only. Please RSVP for this event by clicking here.
Car Pool Families: If you are dropping your student off from the outside lane, please do NOT let them out of the car without an adult there! It is dangerous to let students cross in front of vehicles that are not stopped and may not be paying attention. This is for the safety of your student. Please drive up to the adult and they will help students cross safely.
Please make sure that your child is properly dressed. I would advise dressing students in layers- maybe having a sweatshirt that they can keep at school. Please always have a change of clothes for your student to store in their locker. Even our older students sometimes get wet from playing in the snow and need a change of clothes.
For our littles, please continue to practice getting on and off all of their snow gear. Remember, we are encouraging independence so patience is key as they learn to zip their jackets and tie their boots and shoes- but let them do it!
If your child is in need of any warm outdoor gear, please let the office know and we will make sure that we get you what you need. Also, if you are willing to donate any new or gently used coats, snow pants or boots, you can drop those off at the front office. (We are also always in need of kinder and first grade size pants and new packages of underwear)
All students should be aware of how they are getting home daily. We understand that sometimes things change. Please remember that all changes in dismissal routine must be communicated to the main office no later than 3:15 PM. (2:15 on Thursdays)so that we can assure the change is able to take place. On the rare occasion that a student needs to be picked up early, they must be signed out before 3:40 PM. After 3:40, all adults will be asked to wait outside for the student to exit using their regular dismissal routine. Thank you for understanding that safety is our first priority.

Beaumont Students Receive Grant to Start a Garden
Hello Beaumont Families!
Last year, Beaumont received a grant to start our very own school garden. Woohoo!! This means SOON we will begin growing some herbs, fruits and vegetables, in hopes of having a lot of plants to add to our garden this spring. To grow these plants, we will be using the winter sowing method. This means we will plant our seeds in miniature greenhouses made from recycled plastic containers and then put them outside in the snow. Once the weather starts to warm up in the spring, the seeds will germinate at their own pace, just as in nature.
Thank you in advance for helping us to kick start our Beaumont garden!
Thank you for all of your donations! We no longer need donations- Our community is awesome!
Sincerely,
Your Beaumont Staff
Second Step Information
Dear Families,
This month, our schoolwide theme is Feelings. We are working on identifying feelings, same and different feelings and showing compassion. In our morning announcements and school assembly, we’ll be reminding students of these skills, which help students be successful learners.
Second Step lessons teach skills for learning. You’ll be receiving Home Links describing why these skills are important and including fun activities to do with your child to practice them. We hope you enjoy them!
Please tell your child’s teacher if you’d like more suggestions about supporting skills for learning at home.
Chromebooks and 1:1 Information/Support
Be on the lookout for your student to arrive home with their school-issued chromebook. It is so important that they charge their device and bring back the next day. Depending on grade level and teacher will determine how often your student will bring the device home. Below are some helpful links to assist you.
