Message from the Principal

Happy December- The Busiest Time of the Year!

Principal

guizzl01@wsdmi.org

Good afternoon!

We are having so much fun here at Beaumont as our students are learning throughout the day! Many teachers have fun projects that are coming to life as we dive into our PBL lessons.

We are again giving back to our community and sponsoring a Giving Tree for some of our families that may need a little extra help through this holiday season. If you are willing and able, please consider clicking on the link below and choosing an item to donate. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give the main office a call.

Beaumont Elementary: 2022 Giving Tree (signupgenius.com)

We are so very excited to have Social Worker, Gayle Ellias and therapy dog, Ichabod join us at the next PTO meeting on December 15th at 5:00 PM. Gayle and Ichabod have been visiting our Therapeutic Classroom weekly and we are blessed that they both will be joining the Beaumont Family officially. Gayle will be our new Social/Emotional Health Specialist at Beaumont. She will have an opportunity to work with students on emotion regulation, social skills and exploring acts of kindness, compassion and empathy. Parents will get to hear the incredible journey that Ichabod and Gayle have had together. Before Gayle and Ichabod start working with our students, parents will have an opt out form if you would prefer that your child not work with Ichabod.

Car Pool Families: If you are dropping your student off from the outside lane, please do NOT let them out of the car without an adult there! It is dangerous to let students cross in front of vehicles that are not stopped and may not be paying attention. This is for the safety of your student. Please drive up to the adult and they will help students cross safely.

Spirit Wear is available for purchase! Spirit Wear makes a great gift for the holidays and is very affordable! This year we have THREE different design options.

1. The Buddy the Bengal logo from several years ago (the cartoon drawing)

2. A logo to go along with our gardening theme

3. Just the words “ Beaumont Bengals”

The link below is active as of today. The last day to order spirit wear will be Friday December 9th to ensure that delivery is by Wednesday December 21st.

Please share the link with your families and if they have any questions, they can reach out to the PTO.

Please make sure that your child is properly dressed. I would advise dressing students in layers- maybe having a sweatshirt that they can keep at school. Please always have a change of clothes for your student to store in their locker. Even our older students sometimes get wet from playing in the snow and need a change of clothes.

For our littles, please continue to practice getting on and off all of their snow gear. Remember, we are encouraging independence so patience is key as they learn to zip their jackets and tie their boots and shoes- but let them do it!

If your child is in need of any warm outdoor gear, please let the office know and we will make sure that we get you what you need. Also, if you are willing to donate any new or gently used coats, snow pants or boots, you can drop those off at the front office. (We are also always in need of kinder and first grade size pants and new packages of underwear)

All students should be aware of how they are getting home daily. We understand that sometimes things change. Please remember that all changes in dismissal routine must be communicated to the main office no later than 3:15 PM. (2:15 on Thursdays)so that we can assure the change is able to take place. On the rare occasion that a student needs to be picked up early, they must be signed out before 3:40 PM. After 3:40, all adults will be asked to wait outside for the student to exit using their regular dismissal routine. Thank you for understanding that safety is our first priority.

The next PTO meeting will be December 15th at 5 PM (Please note an earlier time)

-Mrs. Walsh

Waterford Foundation Grant Funds New Early Literacy Books at Beaumont

This week we started checking out some of the books we received from a Waterford Foundation Grant for the library. The $750 grant was for Engaging Early Reading Books and it has caught interest of Beaumont students. These are just some of the students that checked out the books. Thank you Waterford Foundation!

Beaumont Students Receive Grant to Start a Garden

Hello Beaumont Families!

Last year, Beaumont received a grant to start our very own school garden. Woohoo!! This means SOON we will begin growing some herbs, fruits and vegetables, in hopes of having a lot of plants to add to our garden this spring. To grow these plants, we will be using the winter sowing method. This means we will plant our seeds in miniature greenhouses made from recycled plastic containers and then put them outside in the snow. Once the weather starts to warm up in the spring, the seeds will germinate at their own pace, just as in nature.

Since we will be doing this whole school, it will be a big undertaking and we need YOUR help. We are in need of empty, clean plastic milk jugs and water jugs, like the one to the left.

(If sending in milk jugs, please be sure to rinse them thoroughly so they don’t mold).

We will be collecting these all winter. Please send in anything that you have.

Thank you in advance for helping us to kick start our Beaumont garden!

Sincerely,

Your Beaumont Staff

Second Step Information

Dear Families,

This month, our schoolwide theme is Feelings. We are working on identifying feelings, same and different feelings and showing compassion. In our morning announcements and school assembly, we’ll be reminding students of these skills, which help students be successful learners.

Second Step lessons teach skills for learning. You’ll be receiving Home Links describing why these skills are important and including fun activities to do with your child to practice them. We hope you enjoy them!

Please tell your child’s teacher if you’d like more suggestions about supporting skills for learning at home.
