Automation and Robotics

Automation and Robotics focuses on creating and programming machines to function with minimal human interaction. Students can expect to design, construct, and program machines to perform specific tasks. Students must be able to think in logical steps, visualize viable options for construction, and verbalize/ write instructions to complete jobs within their teams.

Units

  • Digital Portfolio
    • Students will create and maintain a Google Website to display their projects.
  • The Engineering Cycle
  • Mechanical Systems
  • Algorithms
  • Automated Systems
  • Class Challenge Project

Required Items

  • Frequent access to a computer (additional time can be utilized after school during Homework Club and by appointment with the instructor)
    • Students will need to complete weekly blog/vlog on their website to document the progress of their projects.
    • Students will need to complete a written assignment at the end of each project to discus the skills used in its completion.
  • Access to a Digital Camera/ Cellphone
    • To take pictures and record videos for their Digital Portfolio blog/vlog.
  • Flash/ Thumb Drive (1GB)
    • May be the same one on the Main School Supply List.
    • Used to save program code to make the machines work.
  • Graphing Composition Notebook (No 3 ring binders)
  • Writing Utensil
  • $10.00 Lab Fee (paid to the Main Office by the last day of the 1st Quarter)
