Principles of Engineering

Principles of Engineering is a PHYSICAL SCIENCE CREDIT (required for Gradation). It can used in lieu of Chemistry, Physics, or Physical Science. Additionally, college credit is offered at affiliated colleges and universities, for those who score well enough on the End of Course Exam.

Course Description

Principles of Engineering is a YEAR LONG HONORS COURSE which is a broad-based survey course designed to help students understand the field of engineering and engineering technology and its career possibilities. Students will develop engineering problem solving skills that are involved in post-secondary education programs and engineering careers. They will explore various engineering systems and manufacturing processes. They will also learn how engineers address concerns about the social and political consequences of technological change. The main purpose of this course is to experience through theory and hands-on problem-solving activities what engineering is all about and to answer the question “Is a career in engineering or engineering technology for me?”

Students entering this course need to be aware of that Engineering is a Science and Math heavy field. This course uses trigonometry, geometry, algebra to describe our research. The ability to substitute values into and manipulate a formula are keys to success.

Below are the 4 Main Units that we cover. Photos will be added as we move through the year to show student work.
