Practicing Consonant + Vowel Below
WORD PRACTICE
If you missed therapy, you can print these out and read to your child. If we haven't taught you how to produce the sounds, just have your child LISTEN!
Practice Makes Progress! Check out how one busy mom got "booted" from practice when big brother stepped in. Remember to recrute family members to support learning.
The important thing to remember here is he needs to be practicing "accurately", so mom is listening in the background if the sound shifts. Hard to hear, but he's really motoring in focused practice mode.
USE MIRROR and a FEATHER
Use a feather to "wiggle" the air. Don't forget the MIRROR to just "play" and "practice" those bunny faces
VISUALS ARE THE BEST TEACHING TOOLS
Use a feather along with your mirror and whisper phone to promote cues.
Check out Bennett and his mom practicing segmenting sounds to get the accurate result. She uses her visual hand cues to break apart the sounds in words. This sound was VERY challenging to him just a year ago. Placement was the key.
Remember to use the setting icon to change the "playback speed" to 0.75 or slower!
GO FISHIN' Ask Mrs. Chris how to make your own with a wooden dowel, magnet, fishline and some hot glue. I got my items at ACE Hardware. Add paperclip to your target words! Make the string SHORTER for ease. Practice fine motor skills so your child uses only one arm.
Use just your words or clip to fish and save in your practice box or just GO FISHING!
Try cutting out this fish below and make an accordian fan or MAKE A FAN!
Check it out!
Fold a Fan and have some fun!
Snip Snip Snip. Print & Cut and place on your child's wrist! Fun way to add a new dimension to practice. Try for 5 repetitions per photo.
