I absolutely LOVE this book in person. You can use this book for final /ks/ NO PROBLEMO but you can also rent this book from the library or turn off volume and use for final /k/ DUCK with your "OWN" reading version.
-ks is a sound pattern we teach AFTER "K" and "S" have been established at the ends of words. Visual/Verbal cues are the scraper and the snake sounds. Remember accuracy is key over speed. DO NOT PRACTICE POORLY-PRACTICE PERFECT. If they cannot produce, then back up to the sound level or have them just listen. Listening IS the simplest form of practice.
Remember to click on the wheel widget to slow down this song or pause and have your child say the "KS" in DUCKS. Use the hand gestures we've taught for "K" and then "S"
KS Remember to write the LETTERS for VISUAL CUES. You child is "READING" now and using these graphemes to help them to understand the "code" of reading. Tap the "K" and "S" When they are practicing so that the can remember to say ALL the SOUNDS!
Print off several copies. Cut out the "BINGO" words. Say them first for listening practice, then have them say the words as you play bingo or rapid fire 3 min. drill practice to "earn" the game, then just play for fun. Remember when it's for fun, you may model the correct sounds, but don't expect them to have to practice with every word or correct them. Decide early how you want to practice with this activity.
