Remember to cut out words
and hold up to your face for modeling
Check out your local library to look for this book!
remember to slow it down!
have your child raise their hand when they hear the target sound
Use suspense to practice. Say the word/sound 5 times then take a turn. You may need to push for them which they seem to enjoy just as much. We tease the how he needs to be NICE and we check and count we have all our fingers at the end of each game. Remember to be animated-that's half the fun. Get the whole house involved. Kinda silly how she added a toy in his mouth you have to try to save :)
Final /ts/ can be a great way to teach and reinforce plurals! Many of our kids omit the final sound which CHANGES THE MEANING! 1 CAT OR 3 CATS? Use household manipulatives to practice this. Here are some more words/toys you may have lying around to play with for this target:
plates (open those cabinets then make ANTS on a LOG with raisins and peanut butter!)
rats (always around at halloween)
dots (play with ink daubers from the Dollar store)
bats (perfect to buy in packs around halloween or get the bat and ball from the garage. Work for wiffle balls then go out back and play)
hats (check that closet and pile them on top of your head with each practice then try to walk without spilling
toy boats Check the bathtub for toys and You Tube to fold and make your own paper boats to float in the sink. It really works!
