Beginning Band

Students in Beginning Band will be required to find a solo to perform for Solo and Ensemble Festival. Solo and Ensemble Festivals are a great time to celebrate what you can do on your instrument, show off what you've learned, to expand your musical knowledge, and to celebrate instrumental music. Ms. Shinney LOVES when you learn your favorite song on your instrument, like Harry Potter, or Jurassic Park, I'll totally help you find that music! For festivals, even at the high school level, there are usually pre-approved lists, or you need to get approval from your band director. 

For Beginning Band, Ms. Shinney will provide a Google Folder for each instrument. You will need to choose out of this folder for a solo. Take a listen! Give something new a chance, I chose some really fun ones! 

My band teacher for beginning band made me do Solo and Ensemble, and made me play a song called "The Blue Bells of Scotland." I MOANED and GROANED and said "UUGH that sounds like the most BORING song ever!" But it was my assignment, so I did at. After I learned it I LOVED playing that solo! It was SO fun, and I still have that song on my playlist. Be open, give something new a chance.
