What is Beginning Guitar?
Beginning guitar is a semester long class at Orion where you learn how to play the guitar! In beginning guitar, we start to learn and establish the fundamentals of how to play the guitar. We work on skills such as proper ways to hold the guitar, naming and identifying all of the parts of the guitar, learning how to read different notations used on the guitar, melody playing, chord playing, and so much more! Beginning guitar class is a great choice for students who want a music class for half a year. No musical experience is required! It does help if you have some, but no big deal if you've never played an instrument before.
This class is only available for Orion students in 8th or 9th grade. Students in 7th grade are not able to take this class.
What do I need for Beginning Guitar?

Guitar! Please plan on providing your own guitar for this class. We use acoustic guitars, not electric. Orion has an extremely limited amount of guitar rentals available to those who really need them. Fender or Yamaha are great reputable brands, you can find on Amazon if you'd like. Affordable options on Amazon aren't the worst for a guitar class. They aren't the best quality, but from my experience do well if students take care of them. A great way to make them sound better is to change the strings! (The guitar I have linked had good reviews.)
Bring a pencil every day! We use them to write in our music.
Bring your Chromebook to class every day. We will use it every day, your method book is on it.
