Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Recently, the students have been practicing their writing skills through writing fractured fairy tales, fractured fairy tale news stories, and using their creative genius to come up with something new.
Newbery Honor author Christian McKay Heidicker visited our library on September 23 during sixth and seventh periods. He read from his newest book & talked about the creative process. You can find his books on Sora and in our library!
Great job on your Timelines of Life! That was some really outstanding work turned in and awesome brainstorming for the personal narrative going on!
WAY TO GO!
Keep Up The Hard Work!
Recently, the students used both their writing skills and artistic skills to create concrete shape poems.
"May The Fourth Be With You!"
Storm thingy
By, Isaac Constable
I look across the valley
Angry clouds on the horizon
A storm rushing to us
Leaves dancing in the wind
As the storm stood over them
Manipulating their movements like a puppeteer
As i stay inside,
The storm continues to throw wind at the ground below

My car
By, Brinlee Presher
My car screams, its in pain
It pulls me with its chain
The chain gets stuck, then it coughs
It has a fear of moths
And thats my car, it runs far
A Stormy Night
By:Harper Heath
The rain beat against my head.
The clouds were running to me.
So I ran under my bed
while the night was dark and gloomy.
The rain hit my roof, till it started to leak.
The wind started to blow
while my pillows wiped my cheek.
The storm is stronger than before.
The wind has started howling
The elements are at war
The moon started to glow
What would happen next, I don’t know?
The thunder roared
The wind howled
The rain tiptoed on the roof
The storm was alive
It was on the move
It had passed by the house
-Jersey Ortega
Whispering Willow
By Maycie Draper
Feel the soft grass dance on the ground.
See the trees swing in the wind.
Hear the wind whisper in your ear.
Follow the sound of the animal's spirits.
Watch the wandering clouds.
Listen to the birds sing you soft a song.
Close your eyes and stay awhile.
Stay with the whispering willow.
The morning
By Joel Beachy
When the sun rose it sad hello
Yet with its glow i am blind to see the chair yawning
And my violin wanting to be played
when I left my room and i said hello to the door as it said hello back
Yet the flower wanted to bloom but can’t because it's too early, they said.
And it was unclearly that the sun said hello at all.
hUNGeR
By,Mac Loughton
I woke up at night and my stomach was roaring
I just couldn't wait for the morning
I walked up a stair and it screeched
But the Cheese-its were out out of my reach
Car
By:Ellee Summers
The car slowed down, It had to take a breath of air,
In the middle of nowhere
Go on the road or through the Haunted Town
Which Way shall it go
It's too slick on the road
The car wined at the thought of leaving
The car decided
For it will stay in the town.
Spring Time
By Kestle Eames
Watch the trees dance in the wind
Watch the flowers bloom happily
Watch the rain kiss the ground as it gently falls
Hear the stream run calmly
Hear the wind blow softly

The wind that day
By Spencer McKell
The wind that day was blowing by
Howling, growling through the sky.
The snow fell like a white blanket.
I’ll never forget the howling wind
It’s Spring!
By: Teagan Veater
It’s spring!
And the garden is changing its clothes.
The sun shines bright like a star
The wind howls through the soft light breeze,
And blows throughout the day.
The flowers sing saying, “ IT’S SPRING, IT’S SPRING HURRAY!!”
Wind
The wind can Whistle,
The wind can sing,
The wind can even dance,
It makes its own music,
As it dances through the leaves,
A wild ballet of color,
When It sings,
It can be mad,
Or sad,
Or cheerful!
Or even shy.
When it whistles,
It has an audience of a thousand.
It whistles happy songs,
It cries sad lonely songs,
It can even be proud.
The wind can be sneaky,
It sneaks up on you and jumps,
It can be a shy little breeze,
Or a huge billowing gust!
Or sometimes, the perfect wind for a kite,
The wind can sometimes be helpful.
-Kylee Woolston
Lightning danced across the sky
It roared as it danced across the sky
The wind howled at night singing animals to sleep.
It is many colors and loud
As it dances in the sky it is roaring and you can
See many colors.
-Celeste M.
Basketball is a fun game
You dribble the ball and shoot
When you shoot the ball screams through the air
And you keep the other team for scoring

The sky is High
By, Stephanie Morales Valdez
When I look up the sky
I feel like I want to fly
The sky was angry
My name was changed to Frankie
It is about to snow
So then it glows
It complains all day
So we can not play
There is no sunset
So I get upset
The clouds are mean
So I go unseen

Oh the places Michelle Obama went to
By, Melody Maldonado
Congratulations today is your day you’re off to great places you’re off and away!
You have legs with feet attached to them and a face with two eyes on it.
Oh the places Michelle Obama will go with her two eyes and feet.
Michelle Obama can move in any directions she can go up, down, left and right.
She can see trails and paths from a mile away all the time.
And she always chooses the direction she believes is right.
Michelle Obama chose the right paths that had good and care in them.
She also chose the ones that were dark and sad and that needed help.
She went to become a role model to young women with dreams.
Michelle Obama helped everyone with needs.
Obama went to schools to help kids eat healthier.
She made good examples to people who needed to try and eat less junk food.
She helped people make junk food be left unchewed.
She went through places that were hard and bad.
But she never let that stop her from being glad.
Someone in her family suffered from multiple sclerosis which was her dad.
She had to overcome her insecurities as being first lady.
It was a very big struggle and this was something she did on her own.
But she ended up getting through that and she proved to her own self that she is strong.
She went to a place where she met the love of her life.
They had a great journey together.
They even had two daughters that were light as a feather.
Oh the places Michelle Obama went with herself and her family altogether.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Shakespeare wrote a lot of sonnets about love. "So kind of like pickup lines?"
(What an awesome connection by Ashton Spackman!)
During Shakespeare's time, the Globe Theater was closed for a period of time because of the plague. What is this kind of like today? "Corona Virus."
(To all of the students who mentioned this in unison, this was an outstanding connection to our lives today!)
YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO CLASS DISCUSSIONS ARE AWESOME!
THANK YOU, & KEEP UP THE HARD WORK!
For the end of 3rd Quarter and 4th Quarter, students will be focusing on reading and writing poetry.

The blossoms were as colorful as the sunset.
A sock as out of place as the dolphins carved from wood.
With benches as solid as rocks.
And a dandelion that bursted out of the grass.
The leaves and branches are enemies.
A river of plants as far as the eye can see.
With aspen trees as long and straight as the path ahead.
A bush that was as tall as a dirt hill.
A fallen tree that made a bridge across the pond.
And last a Black cat and a stump stood still.
The Outside World During Quarantine
Monday, the 23rd day of quarantine, required a walk thru Nature
And a visit to a teacher at the school known as TH Bell
My eyes beheld while I was walking several different things
A pile of sticks that is like a fire waiting to happen
That annoying black and white cat is the oreo of the cat world
The birds in the bush were singing like angels
The clouds in the sky are balls of cotton
Sidewalks that should be are as straight as an arrow.
The grass is the green carpet of the world and it needs to be vacuumed
Daffodil flowers were as yellow as the sun
That car sat unmoving like me playing video games
The T.H Bell sign is such a dinosaur
Sadly, the quarantine is a stop sign in our life
-Dustin Roper
Nature is true peace
The calm lake is a mirror
That reflects the mountain, high as a plane
Where the snow is cold as outer space
And the clouds are puffy as cotton balls
And the rocks are needles
Life is a waterfall
The water is concrete
And the bushes are small forests
Where the grass is green as a lime
And the dirt is fine as sandpaper
Nature is peace
-Casey Draper
The trees were sometimes as tall as wrecking balls.
There were so many, they looked like walls.
The twigs looked like little kids’ fingers.
The fresh air made me want to linger.
The pond was as big as a giant’s swimming pool.
A cocky rooster was trying to act cool.
The squiggly little snake reminded me of my hair.
I'm glad I did not run into a big bear.
The bridges looked like popsicle sticks.
One thing we did not see was ticks.
The geese were graceful as ships in the night.
The running river was a wonderful sight.
A bunny rabbit was gray, brown, white, and black.
I can't wait until i can go back.

When you play basketball it is fun.
And it gives you a chance to just run.
If you don't dribble good,
you'll get called on the wood,
but your friends you can even outrun.

Big Shake
Today there was an earthquake in Utah.
There was swaying and shaking that we saw.
The damage and such,
I hope it’s not much,
So things get back to normal in Utah.

He slept so well but woke up with a fright

Thank heavens it was ever so slight

In preparing to write personal narratives about one event that has happened in each student's life, students created artistic timelines in various shapes where they brainstormed and listed 15 different life events. Here are some great examples of a few timelines that were created.
If you think that you turned in an assignment but you did not receive credit for it, there is a no-name box in the back of the classroom. Please check there to see if you have any assignments in there without a name on them.
If one of them is yours:
Put your name on it.
Turn it back in to the correct bin for your period.
To the left, is some useful internet information for students, which is also located on the back of the Class Disclosures.
