A Little About Me...

I graduated from Weber State University with Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's Degrees in English, Business Education Teaching, and Curriculum & Instruction.  I also obtained additional endorsements through the Northern Utah Curriculum Consortium and microcredentials through Google and The Utah Educational Network (UEN).  Not counting field experiences & student teaching, I have been in education for 19 years, all at T.H. Bell.   Outside of Education, I have worked in the following industries:  food/restaurant, manufacturing (operations, material handling, & maintenance),  retail sales (stocking & cashiering), &  travel & tourism (resort housekeeping).   I first began working at sixteen years old and from the time I was eighteen on, have usually worked two to three jobs at a time, all involving working with many people.   My variety of skills and passion for learning is what pushes me each day to be an influence for good.

The Seven Habits

The Seven Habits:

Leader In Me Training 2023

In Digital Literacy, we learn and use digital tools that will help better prepare students for high school and college business courses.  Students practice keyboarding skills, learn about and use peripheral devices, learn about network cables, wifi & routers, what is required for video and audio, do video editing, learn how to stay safe on the internet, learn how to work together, use software programs, get an introduction to computer science, and get real hands-on experience while having fun doing it.

In English, we enjoy finding good books in the library to read.   Students play games to learn grammar and language, read on SORA, work together, use digital tools and technology, write essays, learn vocabulary and reading strategies, work in groups, do creative writing, engage in writing revision, practice communication skills, and really have fun doing it.

***You can also find other information and resources by clicking on the "HOME" TAB on the top, right-hand corner of this site (or from the three lines on the left for mobile use) for a drop-down menu including more pages and options.

This course is a foundation to computer literacy.  Students have opportunities to use technology to develop skills that encourage creativity, critical thinking, productivity, and collaboration in the classroom and in day-to-day life.  This course is aligned with the International Society for Technology in Education for Students, the K-12 Computer Science Framework, industry standards for Digital Literacy Certification, and the Utah Core.  The alignment to these national and international benchmarks will ensure that students complete this course with a prerequisite to transition successfully to the 9-12th grade digital studies courses.

This course focuses on reading, writing, speaking, and listening.  The students will understand academic as well as conversational and standard English.  Throughout the year, the students often complete the following projects:  participate in a book club and/or read class novels, write a personal narrative, write a research paper, read short stories from their literature book, and read informational texts.

This class time focuses on character education through the "Leader In Me" Program.  It is a transitional period and a time during the day when students listen to school announcements, learn classroom procedures, a time when school surveys are givenand a time when school assemblies are scheduled.
