Eyes Up, Phones Down!
All pickups and drop offs are at WRHS - out back between the Auto Shop and Drivers Ed cars.
The RMV requires student drivers to complete 40 hours of supervised driving with a licensed driver at least 21 years of age outside of the Driver Ed program. Please make every effort to start these hours prior to your first road lesson with Drivers Ed.
Student drivers are required to complete 12 hours of on-road instruction with a licensed Drivers Ed program instructor and 6 hours observing another student driver.
You must notify your instructor at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel a scheduled road lesson.
Missed road lessons (canceled without 24 hour notice, or if a student is 10 or more minutes late for a scheduled road lesson) will be assessed a $75 make-up road lesson fee.
If your instructor's schedule is not working well for you or your instructor is out for any reason, ask about using our Flexible Driving Instructor Program. Your instructor can refer you to another driving instructor temporarily or as needed.
In order to sign up for road lessons students must first:
Be 16
Have a valid MA learner’s permit
Have completed the Drivers Ed class and passed the final exam
Have a completed parent/guardian class on file
In order to sign up for a road lesson, please email Deb Flynn the following:
A copy of your Learner's Permit
The date of your Driver's Ed class (month and year)
The date and the name of the parent/guardian who attended the parent class (if completed with WRHS Driver Ed) or a copy of the class certificate (if completed outside WRHS Driver Ed)
*If taken at Gilmore's and you don't have the certificate, a parent/guardian will need to retake the class

An emergency contact phone number and parent/guardian email address
Days/times you are not available for road lessons
*All Driver Ed balances must be paid in full and all classes/modules completed before being scheduled for road lessons
Keep in mind that nervousness and anxiety are quite normal when first learning to drive - you are not alone. A professional driving instructor and a little practice should help calm those fears. Don't let your fear hold you back.
With confidence, great things can be achieved.
Remember, without failure, there would be no such thing as success.
