Amount: $2000

Description: Established in 1985, this $2000 scholarship is in honour of former FMHS Principal R. H. (Richie) Woods.  In order for a student to be considered for the R. H. Woods Scholarship, students must be nominated by a staff member, be short-listed based on their application, and experience a successful interview.  

The chosen candidate is selected based on a number of aspects including exemplary grades throughout high school, school involvement, community volunteerism, and citizenship.  The student’s presentation and interview assist the panel in choosing the successful applicant.

Criteria:

The basis for awarding the scholarship is:

• Academic achievement

• Involvement in school activities

• Leadership in the school/community

• Financial consideration

 The conditions of the scholarship are:

• Students must be nominated by a Frank Maddock High Staff Member.

• Selected candidates will be invited to an interview in which the student will be provided the opportunity to advocate for themselves and their academic and community strengths.

• The student must provide proof of attendance at a post-secondary educational institution. 

• If the successful candidate does decline acceptance of the scholarship, it will be awarded to the runner up candidate.

Description: 

• The Timber Dental scholarship awarded annually in the amount of $2,500 to students pursuing a career in the dental industry. This scholarship is designed to support our local communities by fostering the growth of future dental professionals. Our goal is to help ensure that rural communities have access to high-quality dental care provided by skilled local professionals.

Criteria:

• • Be a graduating student in Drayton Valley in the Wild Rose School Division.

  • The student must be enrolled an RDA or RDH program (or RDH pre-study) at a school accredited in Alberta.

  • The scholarship will be awarded to one student per year.

  • Priority will be given to students who have participated in work experience in the office.

  • Next consideration will be top marks.

Application Process: We would like the school division to inform us of the student who has met the criteria and the Director of Operations or a representative will present the student with a cheque at an awards ceremony in the fall if possible.
