This Bursary is paid on behalf of a student demonstrating financial need to enable him/her to pursue education at a post-secondary level including university, college, technical institute or other educational institutions
While this bursary is for students continuing education, it can also be applied for by students who are over 20 years old who are completing a post-secondary program that they started before turning 20 (ie: a 3rd year university student who is now 20 years old could apply for this bursary to help fund the last year(s) of their programming).
Criteria:
This bursary will be awarded for students demonstrating financial need in a submitted application.
Applicants must be current residents at the time of application in the area served by the Drayton Valley Community Foundation. This area includes the Town of Drayton Valley as well as the surrounding areas of Alder Flats to Entwistle.
Applicants must be 20 years of age on or before September 1st, of the current year.
This bursary may apply to any field of study including the following:
University and college academic disciplines
A professional program such as law or medicine
A trade such as plumbing or mechanics

The Small Town Big Life Scholarship celebrates the strength, potential, and ambition of young women in our rural communities—because when women support each other, incredible things happen. Open to female high school graduates aged 17 to 20 from the Drayton Valley–Brazeau County area, the scholarship supports those pursuing post-secondary education, trades, or career training away from home.
Criteria:
It is only available for students who reside in the geographical area of Drayton Valley and Brazeau County. A student’s financial means or ability to pursue further education will also be considered.
The students must be attending a qualified registered school and must be registered in a qualified University, Secondary College or Trade School. This scholarship is not applicable toward high school upgrading or equivalency courses.
Acceptance will not be based on school marks; transcripts are still required.
A letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, mentor, counsellor or coach is required (this cannot be a relative).
A minimum 250-word essay on the turning point in your life that led you to enrol in school / your current program is required.
Receipt of the scholarship will be made after the student is registered. The scholarship will be made payable to the applicant’s school.

The Timber Dental scholarship awarded annually in the amount of $2,500 to students pursuing a career in the dental industry. This scholarship is designed to support our local communities by fostering the growth of future dental professionals. Our goal is to help ensure that rural communities have access to high-quality dental care provided by skilled local professionals.
Criteria:
Be a graduating student in Drayton Valley in the Wild Rose School Division.
The student must be enrolled an RDA or RDH program (or RDH pre-study) at a school accredited in Alberta.
The scholarship will be awarded to one student per year.
Priority will be given to students who have participated in work experience in the office.
Next consideration will be top marks.
Application Process: We would like the school division to inform us of the student who has met the criteria and the Director of Operations or a representative will present the student with a cheque at an awards ceremony in the fall if possible.
