Michael Vaughan was the consummate advocate for the highest level of ethical behavior in sport and in life, including excellent sportsmanship and enthusiasm for sport, which he orchestrated from his home/school in Three Hills, Alberta. In his various roles of South Central Zone secretary, ASAA Executive Committee member, ASAA Championship host, CIAAA Course instructor, ASAA !MPACT workshop author and leader, teacher, coach and official, Michael walked the talk, setting high standards for himself and those around him, but also being prepared to hold others responsible for stepping over the line between right and wrong. The Spirit of Sport that Michael modeled made him stand out from others. Michael passed away in March 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. In 2021, he was inducted into the ASAA’s Sports Hall of Fame as an Athletic Administrator along with his wife Shauna.

Participate in multiple activities as an athlete (one sport must be an ASAA sport)

Amount: $12,000 over two years and is non-repayable if you agree to live and work in the north upon graduation. Your return service is one year of full time employment in your field of studies for each year of bursary support received. Some careers in high demand now include education, medical and health, engineering and technical fields and social work.
Description:
The NADC Bursary is a return service bursary of $6,000 per year for a maximum of two years, and is offered to students entering their last two years of post-secondary studies or entering a program that is one or two years in length. It is meant to encourage students to train for jobs that are in demand in northern Alberta.
Students must apply for the bursary for each year they want to be considered.
