The COVID-19 Pandemic in Summer 2020 caused the cancelation of Play in the Park, which forced us to think differently about how summer program facilitation would have to work.
We created take-home summer program kits filled with materials kids and teens would have normally used with us in person. Each kit contained 5 envelopes or bags, one for each day of the week. Kids and teens joined us online during the AM or PM session to use these materials, learn something new and have some fun!
Online Summer Programs taught us new skills, and like anything new, gave us new challenges to overcome. But now we have a good idea of what COVID-friendly summer programming could look like and know where we can improve!
We look forward to Summer 2021, and know that regardless of restrictions we will have something for children, youth and families to do!
Check out our Summer 2020 program offerings below:
During one week, one Wellness Coach challenged the kids to take her on their adventures this summer and to send pictures of where she had visited.
We had the opportunity to make kits for Boys and Girls Club to use in their summer programs. During one week, children/youth attending will dig deep to embrace their character strengths and appreciate the strengths of others and all our uniqueness we have to offer.
Lots of kits headed home for our online SPOT and Yoga Programs!
One Wellness Coach taught different types of dance to kids and youth, and then posted her lessons online so you can watch again and again!
Some families participated in our offline, self-guided, Outdoor Family Wellness Challenge. They were able to work through the booklet at their own pace, and would send us pictures of their adventures!
Work done by the kids and youth who attended our 2020 Online Summer Programs. Way to go everyone!
