Parents/Guardians

Academics, Attendance, Volunteer

Parents and guardians are always welcome helpers to support our drama club productions & we really appreciate every second of your help!

During the Rehearsal Process:

  • Academics: As many of you know being a part of a production can be very time consuming from after school rehearsals to time outside of school memorizing lines, practicing dances, etc. However, academics should be each student’s first priority. Rehearsals don’t start until 2pm, and by the time we are done with a warm-up it’s often 2:15pm. We encourage all students to take advantage of that time to see a teacher for extra help or work on homework. Although teachers are understanding we can often have late rehearsals (as we get closer to show time) not having homework complete for classes due to drama club is not generally considered “excused”. I encourage you speak with your child about time management.

  • Attendance: Each student is allowed three excused absences from drama club after school. Excused absences include being out sick from school or a family emergency. Please ask your child to see the rehearsal calendars and we kindly ask you double check for any conflicts. We take attendance each day and rely on each cast member to be at his/her rehearsal to learn material, no matter how big or small the role. When a student is absent it is his/her responsibility to ask a cast member about what we covered.

      • Please note that Tech Weeks are mandatory. Tech weeks are Monday-Thursday the week before and week of the show. This is our crunch time and having all cast present is of utmost importance to putting on a production. We kindly ask you check and modify if necessary any appointments.

      • Time Management: As mentioned above we don’t start rehearsals until about 2pm, often finishing our warm-up around 2:15pm. Although many students have their own devices please talk with your child about using down-time wisely to complete homework if they are not working on something specific otherwise.
