On Tuesday, November 20, West Platte will offer a full-length practice ACT test for all students in grades 9-11. The practice test gives the students exposure to the structure and timing of the test and provides them with a baseline score as they prepare for future test-taking opportunities. Teachers also use the results to provide targeted interventions in their content areas. The practice test will take place during school hours and results will be shared with the students within a few weeks of taking the test.
On Wednesday, February 20, West Platte will offer a full-length ACT test to all juniors and any sophomores who need a qualifying score for dual credit classes. This test will be FREE to students who want to take it and will count as a national test administration (meaning the scores can be reported to colleges, just like the Saturday tests). Watch for information on getting your student signed up.
The Northland Career Center (NCC) in Platte City hosted an Open House for 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students and their parents recently. Any current sophomores or juniors who are interested in attending NCC next year should speak to Mrs. Allee about the application process. Interested students will complete an application and schedule a shadow visit, where they will ride the West Platte bus in the morning, attend class for their program of interest, and return to school around 11:00 a.m.
