HKBU uses IRIMS data in many different ways, including:
Tables 61, 61B, 62, and 69 of CDCF reporting
Esteem measures for UAA reporting
Annual Academic Review (AAR) – starting from 2023
Internal RAE – starting from 2023
The Library enables and maintains connections between IRIMS and six authoritative resources for importing research output information:
arXiv.org
IEEE Xplore Digital Library
PubMed
Scopus
Web of Science
EBSCOhost Research Databases
As the first five sources are science-centric, a significant proportion of science research outputs can be directly imported to IRIMS without manual inputting, but you are still required to review and “accept” the recommended items to add them to IRIMS. Click here to learn more.
Unfortunately, only EBSCOhost Research Databases can currently be used to import non-science research outputs. If non-traditional research outputs are important deliverables in your discipline, you will also need to manually input them yourself.
Alternatively, you can assign a research staff or a PG student to add items on your behalf. Click here to learn how to set up a trusted user.
As CDCF also counts conference papers (CDCF RO Categories 31, 32, and 33) and as most of these items are not indexed in the 6 import sources listed in Q2, please always remember to submit these items in the corresponding forms:
IRIMS will automatically add SDG tags to research output records on a daily basis. These are based on an algorithm developed by Elsevier (the IRIMS system vendor) that essentially uses a keyword search string to determine whether a research output is aligned with a particular SDG. These have been tested by Elsevier to ensure as far as possible that relevant outputs are identified and irrelevant outputs are excluded. The search strings for each SDG and details of their testing procedures are documented on Elsevier's website.
On the other hand, researchers can add, change, or remove SDG tags assigned by IRIMS. SDG tags defined by researchers take precedence over the automatic assignments identified by the IRIMS algorithm.
The ORCID iD is a unique identifier for researchers. You are strongly encouraged to connect your ORCID iD to the IRIMS. If you do not have an ORCID iD, register for one here.
Once connected, you can import selected items from your ORCID account to IRIMS, especially for non-textual research outputs and activities, in the same manner as other import sources mentioned in Q2. Click here to learn more.
If you also authorize export of IRIMS content to ORCID, you can export your latest organizational affiliations and validated textual research outputs in IRIMS to your ORCID account. This adds authority to your ORCID records as “Hong Kong Baptist Univeristy” will be attributed as the source of your affiliations and validated research outputs. Click here to learn more.
IRIMS is a very complex system consisting of various modules, so it is managed by 3 individual departments.
If you have enquiries/comments that fall out of the above scopes, you are welcome to contact any of us, and we will bring your message back to the IRIMS Working Group for further discussion.
