Random Drug Testing Procedure Form
In an effort to promote health and wellness, the Woodford County Board of Education adopted a student random drug testing policy which was implemented beginning with the 2018-2019 school year. This policy applies to all students in grades 7-12 that drive to any school campus and/or those students that participate in any voluntary extra curricular activities.
With athletics being a voluntary extracurricular activity, WCHS student athletes will be in the pool of students to be randomly selected. Each month during the school year, 50 students will be selected at random from the pool consisting of eligible students in grades 7-12. While a positive test would initiate sanctions for that activity impacting eligibility for a period of time outlined in policy, there are no in-school disciplinary consequences but rather opportunities to get help. In addition, the policy provides educational opportunities for both students and parents on drug and alcohol abuse.
Our hope is that this policy not only provides education, but also gives our student athletes another reason to say "no" should they find themselves in a circumstance where drugs and/or alcohol are present.
