Star Assessments

In grades 3 through 12, we administer Renaissance Star Reading and K–12 Math assessments. These online, adaptive tests take approximately 20 to 30 minutes for students to complete independently. 

The reading assessment evaluates the domains of

• Literature

• Informational text

• Language skills

The math assessment evaluates grade-specific domains (detailed in the table below).

The Star assessments are similar to questions students encounter on the MCAS, meaning it covers standards-based topics. The tests are adaptive, meaning that as students progress through the assessment, if they answer correctly, the assessment gives them more challenging questions; if they answer incorrectly, the assessment adjusts accordingly to find where the student’s skills are.
