Invisible

Scripture

Colossians 1:16

"For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him."

Observation

Biology is defined as the study of life. When we think of "life" we tend to picture all of the visible forms such as animals and plants, but there is a whole world beyond our visible sight that God has created. Bacteria, fungi, viruses, archaea, algae, protozoa. All of these microscopic organisms have been created by God for a specific purpose and are just as important as forms that are visible to the naked eye.

Application

Have you ever felt small and even invisible in the world? Have you ever felt like no matter what you do, you won't be noticed?

If these thoughts have ever entered your mind, you can send them on their way. God has so intricately created even the smallest of creatures and has given them a role. God has set humans aside to be special. Ephesians 2:10 says that we are God's workmanship who are created to do good works which He planned for us to do before we were born. If God put so much thought and effort into creating animals and plants, both seen and unseen, imagine how much love He had while creating us, His chosen people.

Prayer

God, help us to remember that we are so precious to you. In this world, we have all experienced the thought of not being enough. Help us to understand that even though we may feel as though we are invisible, you see us as your creation and nothing we do will change that. Thank you for creating such vast species of life, both big and small, and for giving each and every living thing a unique role that we are to fulfill. Forgive us for not seeing in ourselves what you see, and open our eyes to the role you have set out in advance for us to do
