November 16th Update

Expansion and new Northwestern entrance continue to take shape. The Northwestern stairs and seating walls have been installed. New children's entrance bulkhead is nearing completion. Drywall work is wrapping up in the Children's Area. Detailing is completed on the exterior.

September 21st Update

Majority of the glazing has been installed. Structure for the stair has been installed. Majority of the carpet on the 2nd floor stacks has been installed. Progress in marketplace on first floor. New operable partition tracks and framed have been completed. Teen room is nearing final completion. Framing almost completed on 3-sided display in the new Children's area. Children's area entrance is being framed. Library signage wall along Northwestern being constructed.

August 3rd Update

Bulkhead in Teen room has been framed, awaiting drywall. Location of new windows to be cut into Teen room have been noted. Second floor framing has begun for interior rooms. Formwork for stair, ramp, and platform under stair is ongoing and awaiting concrete pour. Limestone base is getting installed around perimeter.

July 6th Update

Lighting has been installed in the new bulkhead above the main information desk location. Framing for the teen and staff offices is framed out and ready for drywall. Duct work and plumbing lines are being installed on the 2nd floor addition. The 2nd floor west windows are framed out and exterior sheathing has begun.

June 22nd Update

Second floor slab has been poured in the new addition. Most of the exterior metal studs have been installed. Carpet is fully installed in the 1A area. Walls within the outreach office have been removed. Demolition has begun in area 1B. Wood doors and an aluminum storefront have been installed in the basement.

June 21st Update

Metal framing has gone up in preparation for concrete floors being poured. The sidewalk is being torn up for further work. New doors and a glass storefront were added to the basement work area. Carpeting is mostly finished in the main areas of the first floor! The DigMe room has been demolished to create one large space with the former children's program room.

June 13th Update

The children's activity room has been deconstructed and is now ready for updates to be made.

June 1st Update

The new bulkhead of the main desk has been painted and is ready for lighting to be installed. Carpet has been removed around shelving and the main area of Phase 1A. The metal deck on the second floor has been installed over structural steel. The main support for a new exterior canopy at the west entrance has been installed.

May 18th Update

Construction of the new bulkhead above the new main desk is underway. Hanging of drywall in the basement in nearing completion and mudding has begun. Steel frame erection is close to completion and installation of the metal deck is underway.

May 1st Update

South section of the columns and beams are being erected and set in place. Waterproof membrane has been installed on north section of foundation walls. Drywall work is beginning in the basement. First floor Phase 1A demo work completed, and temporary desk installed.

April 20th Update

New transformer was connected and is operational. The underground piping has been installed throughout the area of the new addition. Progress on structural footings along the west and south walls continues. Column pad footing have been completed and are ready for installation of new columns. In preparation for the interior renovation to begin soon, the shelving is being disassembled and the collection is being moved.

April 6th Update

New transformer has been set in place on concrete pad. Waiting on Duke to make final connection to transformer. Structural footings around the west and south walls have been poured and are ready for steel columns and foundation walls to be framed and poured. Column pad footing form work, rebar, and anchor bolts are complete and ready for concrete to be poured.
