ANTICIPATED PROJECT TIME FRAME:
JANUARY 2021 - SPRING 2022
PROJECT GOALS:
Since 1921, the West Lafayette Public Library has been providing outstanding service and timely materials to its community. The current building, completed in 2004, has served library patrons well over its years. But as the community around the Library grows, the building itself must grow to accommodate that expanding community.
Goals for this renovation and expansion project include: creating more space for the children's department and its family-oriented programming; adding additional meeting room spaces available to the community; upgrading the space and availability of the library bookstore; creating a space for storing and perusing archival materials; and updating the basic infrastructure to the building itself.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
-Expansion of the current building west to Northwestern Ave
-Relocation and upgrade of the children's department
-Relocation and upgrade of the teen department
-Addition of a third large meeting room and several small meeting rooms
-Addition of a creativity lab for open maker use
-Creation of a dedicated archival space for material storage and use
-Expansion and relocation of the library bookstore
-Implementation of an RFID system for more efficient item circulation
And of course, more room for library materials!
