Chrome Music Lab - This Chromebook-friendly website is a great place to experiment with creating simple compositions.
MuseScore - MuseScore is free music notation software that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. Think of it as word processing for your music.
Aria Maestosa -Aria Maestosa is free MIDI sequencing/recording software. You can use this software to manipulate existing MIDI files, and also to record music on your computer if you have a keyboard with a MIDI (or possibly a direct USB) interface.
Print your own music staff paper - This free website is a handy way to create your own blank music manuscript paper, suitable for printing and composing your own music. I like to do my sloppy copy on paper, and later transfer the final composition to the computer using MuseScore to create a proper final copy. What can you create?
Looking for sheet music?
Mutopia Project - This website is a great resource to locate public domain sheet music that has been created using LilyPond engraving software. You can download and print most of the sheet music in letter size (8.5x11) PDF format.
IMSLP Petrucci Music Library - This website is another great resource to locate public domain sheet music, most of which has been scanned in from older sheet music that has entered the public domain.

Khan Academy Note Names Video - Are you struggling with naming the notes on the treble clef staff? This three minute video might be very helpful when combined with the MusicTheory.net practice exercise links
Classics for Kids: Note Name Game - This is a fun way to practice your treble clef musical note name skills. Click and drag the correct letter name onto the line under each musical note.
MusicTheory.net Note Identification Practice - This practice website will work without needing Flash or Java, and is useful for portable devices like iPod/iPad/Kindle Fire. You can click/tap on the Customize button in the top right (next to the keyboard) to change the note range to the ones you have learned so far, turn the Helpers on for beginning practice, and turn Accidentals off to concentrate on naming just the notes.
TimeStretch Audio Player - This web-based audio player allows you to slow adjust the speed of a recording without changing the pitch. It can be very handy when you need to slow something down for practice or transcription purposes.

Playing your soprano recorder?
Is the recorder "just a toy?" - I think not. Read a little more about the recorder, and see some impressive videos of this serious instrument in action.

This is for the English/Baroque fingering soprano recorders that we use at WLES. If you have a German fingering recorder, some notes will require different finger combinations than what you see on this chart.
