1ST GRADE: Distribution of resources from the Texas Workforce Commission, the school district, and other community partners to students.
2ND GRADE: Create a culture of college and career-going culture on the elementary campuses.
3RD GRADE: Integration of college and career readiness lessons into classroom instruction.
4TH GRADE: Foster collaboration among stakeholders, including the community, to create awareness of college and career via CCMR Fairs, presentations, etc.
5TH GRADE: Promote college and career readiness using Elementary CCMR Workbooks.
By the end of Elementary School, a student has a strong foundation in literacy and math, is gaining more independence and ownership of their learning, has explored a variety of career options, and can articulate the importance of continuing education after high school.
Middle School:
6TH GRADE: Register for CTE "Intro" CTE courses at middle school. Advise students regarding HS graduation requirements.
7TH GRADE: Participate in CTE Program Exploratory Tours and Camps. Parents & students attend CTE Open House events and Career Day activities
8TH GRADE: Enroll in mandatory Career & College Exploration course, Complete & Analyze Pathful Explore career assessment results. Utilize Career assessment results to develop, plan & register for a Program of Study & Endorsement Plan, Explore state Career Clusters, and Register for CTE "Intro" CTE courses at middle school.
By the end of Elementary School, a student has a strong foundation in literacy and math, is gaining more independence and ownership of their learning, has explored a variety of career options, and can articulate the importance of continuing education after high school.
High School:
9TH GRADE: Review results of Career Assessment & register for CTE POS "intro" course, Identify IBC for CTE Program of Study/Career Plan, Retake Career Assessment if needed & Revise Career Plan, Identify a preferred CTE Program of Study (interest), Student joins a CTSO (leadership & community service), Analyze Labor Market Trends for RGV & Texas
10TH GRADE: Student should be locked in to a CTE Program of Study, Student establishes goal of attaining Career IBC, Student joins a CTSO (leadership & community service), Analyze Labor Market Trends for RGV & Texas, Research salaries aligned with Career Goal, Research Workforce Training & Colleges and/or University education required to attain Career Goal, Begin a Resume and/or Career Portfolio
11TH GRADE: Analyze Labor Market trends aligned to Career Goal, Revisions of Resume and/or Career Portfolio, Begin researching Scholarships aligned to Career Goal, CTSO competition, leadership, scholarships & community service, Attempt IBC (if available) aligned with career goal, Begin Financial Aid planning
12TH GRADE: Finalize Resume & Career Portfolio, select of College, University, or Workforce Training site, Participate in Work-based Learning, Internships, etc., CTSO Competition, leadership, scholarship, etc., Pass IBC (Industry Based Certification) aligned to Career Goal
By the end of High School, a student has completed all the academic, career, and financial requirements necessary to enroll in a postsecondary pathway that reflects their strengths and interests, and they've developed the personal and social skills necessary to build support networks and thrive in their postsecondary pathway.
