The school counselors hold a Master's level degree and are certified in school counseling through the State of Texas.
School counselors are responsible for the planning and management responsibilities of the school counseling program using the four components of the Texas Model; Individual Planning, Responsive Services, System Support and Guidance and Counseling.

All students have access to the counseling program and counseling resources regardless of gender, cultural background, disability, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.
School counselors collaborate with school administration, teachers, parents and site leadership teams in order to ensure the effective implementation of school counseling services and goals.
School counselors have access to a district-developed counseling curriculum that is updated annually and meets the individual needs of our students and meet regularly in an effort to strengthen their program for our students.
PROGRAM GOALS
Goals are provided annually through the data of the Panorama Survey and through the MHMS Campus Improvement Plan. The results help in targeting skills our students need. Based on the Panorama survey results, our efforts to concentrate on emotional regulation and self-efficacy, were successful as each of those categories showed growth throughout the school year. We will continue to survey to best meet the needs of our students.
NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Mary Hoge Middle School provides the Panorama Survey and a Campus Improvement Plan for all students. This helps in identifying the needs of the students to help understand why students are not succeeding and what barriers they face. The Panorama, a researched based survey, is used to gather data from students and staff. This helps in identifying the needs of the students to help understand why students are not succeeding and what barriers they face. The Panorama Survey is provided to students and staff twice a year (fall & spring semester).
EVALUATION OF COUNSELING PROGRAM
Mary Hoge Middle School conducts an annual Panorama Survey . The data is used to help improve the student needs. Data from the Panorama survey are reviewed and an Action Plan is developed based on survey results from staff and students. Data such as office referrals, student self referrals, parent referrals, self harm outcries, and threat assessments are reviewed systematically. The Counseling Committee reviews data distributed in the Fall semester to assess the needs of students and staff at Mary Hoge Middle School.
