Counselors' Role on Campus
Mary Hoge Middle School Counselors strive to offer a variety of services to meet the personal, educational, social, emotional, and developmental needs of all students. Leadership and Advocacy
Through their leadership roles, MHMS Counselors lead and facilitate activities such as Red Ribbon Week, World Mental Health Day, Anti-Bullying, and SEL activities. Counselors advocate for educational attainment by implementing the Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Program among all stakeholders. Academic, social and emotional development assist in maintaining a positive and effective school culture. Counselors teach and encourage self-advocacy for students through groups, whole class and individual sessions. By analyzing student data, such as grades and attendance, counselors provide one on one support. MHMS counselors advocate for parents by conducting monthly parent information meetings, with the assistance of the parent specialist.
