AI to support your work, not replace your work.
AI to support students with learning, not replace their thinking and doing.
Technology tools, including AI, should enhance, not replace, human interaction in the classroom.
CIPA The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires schools and libraries to implement internet safety policies and technology protection measures, including filtering, on computers with internet access, especially those used by minors, when they receive certain federal funding. This typically involves filtering or blocking access to visual depictions that are obscene, child pornography, or harmful to minors.
Monitoring Online Activities:
Schools, in addition to filtering, must also monitor the online activities of minors.
Educating Minors:
Schools must also educate minors about appropriate online behavior, cyberbullying awareness, and response.
AI Policy. No policy has been provided to districts for AI use from the federal or state level.

Tips
Tips for writing a prompt for generative AI: Tips to write prompts for Gemini (from Google)
Encourage students to use Gemini as their generative AI tool.
Encourage students to use AI as a tool to enhance work rather than replace their thinking. For example, use classroom time for first drafts to get produced in the classroom with AI used to refine the first draft using specific teacher-approved criteria in the prompt.
Responsible use. Students need to be taught the limitations and potential biases of AI.
Digital Citizenship. Schools must also educate minors about appropriate online behavior, cyberbullying awareness, and response. In coordination with Student Support Services, digital citizenship lessons will be provided K-12.
